What is CTIC?
The Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC)
is a national, nonprofit (510c3) dedicated to environmentally sound and
economically viable decision making in agriculture.
What's your vision/mission?
Vision: CTIC envisions agriculture using environmentally beneficial and
economically viable natural resource systems.
Mission: CTIC
is a public-private partnership providing reliable, profitable solutions to
improve the relationship between agriculture and the environment.
What does the Center do?
Most of the Centers activities are in the following major areas:
- Clearinghouse. Reviews and communicates new
research, technologies and innovative approaches. The Center also refers inquirers to
specialists.
- Facilitator of national messages and activities.
Works with public and private sector National Partners to assure consistent messages reach
those who influence farm management decisions.
- Sponsor interactive meetings, conferences and tours
to increase communication and understanding between the public and private sectors
involved with natural resource management decisions on cropland.
Who are your partners?
The Center serves corporate, affiliate (academic and other non-profit
organizations), and numerous Federal, multi-state and state governmental
partners.

Purdue Research Park, West Lafayette, IN, USA.
Aren't you part of Purdue University?
While Purdue University provides in-kind support (like access to fiber optic lines) and
CTIC staff are also university staff, the center operates independent of the university.
In fact, the Center works with nearly 100 U.S. and international universities.
How are you funded?
Funds are obtained from agribusiness, monitoring equipment and other natural resource
related companies, institutes, foundations and government agencies. Funding is evenly
split between public and private sources.
Do you have a magazine?
Yes. CTIC Partners, is
our online magazine. It's published quarterly and is distributed via email.
Advertising space is available. All editorial decisions are made by CTIC staff.
How old are you?
Established in 1982 by a group of agribusiness, governmental agency and association
partners; CTIC opened its doors in January of 1983 as a special project of the National
Association of Conservation Districts (NACD).
What is your connection to NACD?
The center was started as a special project of NACD in 1983. Today, CTIC is
an independent 501c3 organization. The center does not receive funding
nor direction from NACD, nor does it make policy recommendations. In addition, the Center provides conservation districts and others who
influence on-farm management decisions with scientifically accurate information.
