Paul Kindinger is Chair of the Conservation Technology Information Center Board and CEO of the Agricultural Retailers Association. He announced the Core 4 approach on April 22, 1999 at the Ag-Earth Day Celebration on the Mall in Washington, DC.

Paul Kindinger, CTIC Chair

Paul E. Kindinger has served as the first President/CEO of the Agricultural Retailers Association since its formation in January, 1993. He was raised on a farm in Michigan and holds a doctorate in agricultural economics from Cornell University as well as BS and MS degrees from Michigan State University. He was Director of Agriculture for the State of Michigan from 1983-1989 until being named Director of Public Affairs and Special Assistant to Secretary of Agriculture Clayton Yeutter at USDA from 1989 to 1991. In that role Kindinger was responsible for all external communications from the US Department of Agriculture including all major agricultural corporations, commodity groups, Governors, State Departments of Agriculture, Indian Tribes, and the media. Just prior to joining ARA, Kindinger was a lobbyist and governmental relations advisor specializing in agricultural and environmental issues for the California and Washington based firm of Kahn, Soares, & Conway.

His earlier professional experience included serving as an instructor of agricultural economics at the University of Minnesota, Director of the Commodity Activities and Research Division of the Michigan Farm Bureau before being appointed Director of Marketing and International Trade for the Michigan Department of Agriculture where he traveled extensively overseas. He later became the Assistant Director of Cooperative Extension at Michigan State University, responsible for all agricultural and marketing programs.

Kindinger has and continues to serve on many state , regional and national boards and committees dealing with agricultural and related issues. He has been recognized for his contribution to the agricultural industry by many groups and organizations and is listed in several different volumes of Who's Who. Dr. Kindinger has also authored many articles for professional journals and popular press. He also speaks extensively throughout the US and other countries about the future of agriculture.

Hobbies include writing country music, running, tennis, building street rods, Corvettes, and travel.

Paul and his wife, Carol, have two children, Jon, 24, and Sarah, 26. Paul and Carol reside in St. Charles, Missouri.
